Aloha & welcome back to reality!

I hope you all had at least a small break over the Christmas/New Year period and had your share of the waves.

Entries for the Australia Longboard Surfing Open at Kingscliff March 21-25 are steadily coming in.

The Green Aussie Cleaner ® has become involved as the naming sponsor for the ASP LQS Men’s Division. Together with the support of the Cancer Institute NSW this allows us to upgrade the pro divisions to 3 star men & women ASP LQS divisions. ASP entries need to be done on line through your respective ASP regional office.

The Noserider Division has min $5,000 in prize money and we are still negotiating with other sponsors for prize money in the SUPS.

Surftech have gain come to the party with board prizes for most amateur divisions.

Entertainment wise we have the latest offering fromTaylor Larisonthe Koala Khronicles and some fare from Luke Sorenson. The lovely Katie has been sourcing the bands for the free music and Steve Snow the celebrity Chef from the award winning Fins Restaurants will be doing a cooking demonstration. As usual there will be free SUP demonstrations, SUP surfing & racing. The Surf Vehicles will be back on display on the Sunday.

And of course the Barefoot Bar at Cudgen Headlands SLSC will provide all the liquid refreshments to wash the salt away each afternoon.

If you havn’t already put an entry in you need to hurry up as most divisions are limited.

… Nic Jones led the Under 18 Boys Final from the outset after posting a 9.0 point ride on his first wave ridden. The smooth young surfer from the Sunshine Coast was a standout all event after also posting a fifth placing in the Open Men’s Division. He finished the final with a 17.67 point heat total to surpass the Poulter brothers Ben and Sam who finished second and third respectively. It was Ben that took the honours on his last wave scoring 6.83 to jump ahead of Sam. Josh Taylor (Mnt) placed fourth in the final also showing some of the flare that he is renowned for on his more preferred shortboard….  Full PLB article here.

We have finally agreed on July 10th for the NMC-AHMC-CMC 3 Way Comp which, with the introduction of Pacifique Surfriders Club, now becomes the Anual 4 Way Comp.

AHMC are the hosts so the venue will be the Bluff, meet at 6:30 10th July 2011, on the deck to discuss options.

All members get out and show some support for your club and participate in some friendly rivalry.

Here is a great little article about Goatboats of all things.  Stu Neetle points out the importance of this most awkward and humorous surfcraft in the structure of the surfing hierarchy.  His suggestion that “apex predators seek enemies” is an interesting analogy to todays crowded lineups. Good one Stu, I’ll both smile and growl when I see the ol’ foe (goatboat, eggbeater, nerd in a turd, or whatever you call them) lurking around the pack.
